Respect A gift from me to myself

“Respect is a two-way street, if you want to get it, you’ve got to give it.”

R.G. Risch

In this world of delusion, the true value of “Respect” seems to have perished away. People are getting entangled in the scratch cradles of being self-centred and ungrateful to the environment. As a result, we have turned out to be greedy, selfish and less acknowledgement for those who are the reason for our existence and well-being. Human beings have turned out to be disrespectful, impolite, disgraceful towards others. Poaching, rape, child abuse, etc. have risen tremendously in spite of having strict laws. Children don’t know how to respect their elderly. Students have forgotten basic ethics. They don’t know how to display minimum respect, in front of teachers. In spite of all these negativities, how “Respect” became a gift for my own self?

“Respect other people’s feelings. It might mean nothing to you, but it could mean everything to them.”

Roy T. Bennett

Although my childhood composes of bitter-sweet moments, yet I never shied away from communicating. I believe, the more you show your respect to people, the more they understand you and your attitude. For some, it may not matter and they may belittle you at any point. But those who understand the language of love will definitely praise your behaviour. Irrespective of the outcome, I have always given utmost respect to the elderly as well as younger ones. Some have definitely deceived the thought. But many have remained indebted. I have never performed tasks for excellent results. I have always known that, if you work hard, with honesty, sincerity and dedication, there is no-one to stop you from being successful. In this era of making money and feeding your family, one must never forget the virtues of life.

Always respect your roots, for those are responsible to land you on the place you are. Never disrespect your mentors, for they are responsible for your growth and success. Always love and respect your parents, for they are the one to show you the light of the Earth. Last but not the least, one should always remember the ideology of “Teach and Preach”. This age-old policy has ensured a better tomorrow and needs utter importance to be given.
